The Point Betsie lighthouse was highly regarded by many Great Lakes mariners as it help light the ever important "Manitou Passage." Point Betsie was also one of the last lighthouses in Michigan to be automated. This did not happen until 1983.
One thing that you will notice when you visit Point Betsie is all the seawalls and concrete around the light. This has been helping to slow the erosion that the lake has been threatening with for years.
Directions: From the Town of Frankfort, follow State Route 22 north about 4.1 miles to Point Betsie Road. Make a left onto Point Betsie Road, and follow that to the end.
