History of the Oakville Lighthouse

This structure took the place of the original Oakville Light that was built in 1837. The lighthouse sits on the Town of Oakville property that is currently leased by the Oakville Yacht Squadron.

Oakville Yacht Squadron is in charge of maintaining the structure. For more information, they can be found at www.oysqn.com. The marina is located on Francis Street just off of Forsythe.

Directions: From the QEW heading towards Toronto, exit at 116 (Dorval Drive) and head east for several blocks. (You will eventually get down to a point where Dorval Drive crosses over Rebecca Street and becomes Margaret Drive.) At the end of Margaret, make a left onto Highway 2 (Lakeshore Road). Continue north on Lakeshore Road until Forsythe Street. Make a right onto Forsythe Street, and then a left onto Francis Street. This will put you at the top of a hill overlooking a park. The Oakville Lighthouse is visible from here.
