History of the Holland Harbor Lighthouse

"Big Red" was sent in by Dennis Kent. He had this to say:

"Big Red" is the often photographed light at Holland, Michigan on Lake Michigan. I waited patiently for the man in the red windbreaker to walk down the pier and add his exclamation point of color to the composition. I got off a couple of shots and be careful what you wish for. I thought a gull would be nice to balance the image and one obliged by gliding into the spot I had saved for him. A happy accident. Dennis

Directions: From US-31 heading north, head west on East Lakewood Blvd. This will change names to Douglas Ave which eventually changes names again to Ottawa Beach Road. Once at the end of this street, we made a right onto Terrace Walk Road and followed that into Holland State Park. Unfortunately, the park was closed, so we ended up having to stand at the gate and use the telephoto lens to get pictures of the Holland Harbor Lighthouse.
