History of the Lorain East Breakwater Lighthouse

Built in 1965 to replace the older Lorain West Breakwater lighthouse that was built in 1917.

Directions: While on Route 2, head north on Ohio Route 58 (Leavitt Road). This will take you into the City of Lorain, Ohio. At the end, make a left onto Ohio Route 6. Follow this up to Oberlin Street and make a left. This will take you back to the Water Treatment Plant. If you stay to the left hand side, you can go behind the plant to the boat launches. This is probably the best area to get photos of the lighthouse. You will need to use a telephoto lens as the lighthouse sits out in the lake on a breakwater.
