History of the Sandusky Harbor Breakwater Lighthouse

This light sits on the eastern shore of Cedar Point Amusement Park. Two of the books that I used as a sort of tour guide both show a very different picture of the Sandusky Harbor Pierhead light. The pictures they show are of a skeletal light suspended on "legs." The books are copyrighted in 1994 and 1998, however, the pictures may have been taken before those dates. Here is a picture of the original Sandusky Harbor Pierhead Light from the US Coast Guard Archives.

Directions: This light is best viewed from the parking lot of Cedar Point Amusement Park. From Sandusky, Ohio, follow Cedar Point Causeway to the park, and then drive around Perimeter Road. The light sits at the end of a pier in the lake. The best option is to use a telephoto lens.
