The first lighthouse at Point Petre was built in 1833 and lasted well into the 1960s when it was replaced by the lighthouse in the picture above. Before any preservation group could even get a chance to save the original lighthouse, it was blown up.
Directions: Take Route 10 south out of Cherry Valley. At the intersection where Route 24 heads south, follow Route 24. You will be on Route 24 for about 6.5 miles. You will follow this all the way to the end. The lighthouse sits inside a fenced area of the Coast Guard.
